Travel into the largest protected area of Mexico, the Sian Káan Biosphere Reserve, home to thousands of species of flora and fauna. Begin with the Mayan ruins of Muyil, also known as Chunyaxché, home to the Temple of the Goddess. This site seems untouched since it gets very few visitors. Paths will lead you around the “Castillo” (castle) structure and it is said that the magical “Aluxes” (Mayan sprites) that protect these trails.

After your history lesson, you be enchanted by the nature of the biosphere. Watch the many species of birds while walking on a path throughout the lush mangroves which protect this area from rough weather. See a birds-eye view of the reserve from the watchtower. Relaxation will follow as you take a flotation journey down the Muyil canals. Take a boat all the way down to the Capelchen Lagoon, be on the lookout for Manatees! Enjoy some beach time on the Boca Paila beach before heading to the village for some traditional lunch.
